Mandarin For Kidz Programs

Butterfly Class - Ideal for 18 months to 2.5 years old

Butterfly Class This is a 45-minute toddler session specifically designed for kids under 3 years old. Although children may start learning as young as 12 months, but we strongly advise the enrolments are from age 18 months onwards, so they can be stimulated effectively, and participate more freely to enjoy our toddler program.

Our toddler sessions are interactive and sensory focused. We expect the parents/carers to accompany the kids during each session, and we also encourage the parents to actively participate with the weekly learning activities.

The program is structured with different themes each week. Our teachers are experienced to expose the language in a fun way to make easy for your child to absorb the new language directly and indirectly.

Rabbit Class - Ideal for Non Native Speaking Beginner 2.5 to 5 years old

Rabbit Class

This is a 90-minute session geared towards non-native learners at beginner level. As your child’s cognitive ability increases, so is their ability to communicate. For this age group, we start to extend their listening and speaking skills in Mandarin.

Rabbit students are more involved with interactive activities and games. The teachers are to encourage your child to use Mandarin confidently, starting with simple words. Rabbit students are also exposed to basic phrases, numbers, colours, body parts and simple characters each week and emphasis is primarily on character recognition!

Parents and carers can join in and participate during each session until the children feel more confident to be in their classes without their parents.

Penguin Class - Ideal for Native Speaking Beginner 2.5 to 5 years old

Penguin Class This 90-minute session is similar to the Rabbit level but geared towards native learners. It is a progression of our immersion classes for pre-schoolers who have already been exposed to Mandarin in a home environment and have developed strong listening and speaking skills.

Teachers are actively encouraging dialogue with Penguin students. Students are able to answer and ask simple questions as well as form basic phrases and sentences. Kids are encouraged to share weekly “show and tell” sessions with their classmates.

Penguin students are also exposed to writing and recognising Chinese characters. Correct stroke order and stroke names are introduced to ensure each child develops good writing habits and technique right from the start.

Parents and carers can join in and participate during each session until the children feel more confident to be in their classes without their parents.

Panda Class - Ideal for Non Native Speaking Learner 5 to 10 years old

Panda Class

This 90-minute session for primary school age children are offered on weekdays (after-school) and on weekends (Saturday) during school term. Panda students are confident with their Mandarin as most of them have advanced through our immersion program. However, we do enrol other children who are suitable to this level.

Panda students are grouped according to age and proficiency level. Classes are very much tailored to the needs, dynamics and level of Mandarin within the group.

Panda program is an extension of the Penguin program. Our teachers will adopt appropriate teaching methods and resources to create a wide range of speech events such as role play, drama, interactive activities, games as well as arts and crafts projects.

We will start to introduce Pin Yin, character strokes and more complex radical characters as the class progresses. We also encourage students’ learning by fostering exploration, varied repetition, provocation, mastery, friendship, interaction and collaboration.

Dolphin Class - Ideal for Native Speaking Learner 5 to 10 years old

Dolphin Class This 90-minute immersion program is similar to Panda class, but it is designed for native speakers of primary school age. We hold fast to the belief that children respond more effectively and develop best when presented with materials, which are relevant to their lives and accessible for their learning.

Our qualified teachers have abundant teaching resources up their sleeves to spark the interest of Dolphin students and engage them in a learning experience that is challenging, fun and practical.

Tiger Class - Ideal for Advanced Learner 7 to 10 years old

Tiger Class

This 90-minute session is suitable for children who have a solid foundation of Mandarin - a step up from the Dolphin and Panda classes. Traditional teaching methods have focussed on self-study, drills and testing, techniques that benefit teachers more than students who find such methods alienating and under-stimulating. Our curriculum shifts Mandarin learning from a teacher-centered to a student-centered approach.
